I offer high quality individual math instruction for students of all ages.  From private tutoring to standardized test preparation, I will do my my best to meet your needs.  Please explore the site and contact me.

My particular gift is creating a safe space for my students to face their biggest academic challenges.  Alongside an expert knowledge of Mathematics, I put my students at ease in the face of the biggest block to learning--the fear of solving seemingly insurmountable problems.  At its heart, this is what learning Mathematics is about; having the courage to keep going even when it seems impossible.  Guiding students along this path is my passion.

Here are some nice things that people have to say about me:

Dear Jodi,

You have been the steadfast anchor in Sam's academic life. You have given him confidence and opened the possibilities in his life.  You have taught him not only math but how to conquer his darkest fears and worst problems--by attacking them.  By digging deeper and trying harder.  You have made a real difference in this young man's life and I can not thank you enough.

I wish you all the best.....always.

With much gratitude,

Sally Field

Jodi Zevon was one of the best people to ever come into my life. My freshman year at Brentwood, I was falling behind in mathematics and so I sought out a tutor. I took one lesson with Jodi and knew I would remain her student throughout the rest of my academic career. And I did! She helped me to excel in math in a way that I had never before. I went from merely “getting through”, to excelling, and truly understanding the concepts that I encountered in the course. With Jodi’s help, I started earning grades that were up to par with all of my other courses. She completely saved the trajectory of my performance in mathematics, allowing me to reach my full potential as a student.

Then came the 2nd semester of my junior year, which meant SAT’s. Again, I was doing well in every section except for math. I started training with Jodi and it brought my scores up significantly. Without her, I don’t know if I would be at my dream school, New York University. Not only was Jodi my math tutor all through high school, but she was also a friend, confidant, and role model. As a film major at Tisch, I am not required to take any further courses in mathematics, but if I did, I would be Skyping with Jodi once a week. I cherish the time we worked together and hold her in the highest regard to this day.

Sincerely,

To my dearest teacher, mentor, friend...

Mrs. Zevon,

Where to begin? First I will start with Thank You! You have taught me so much in the past years of my life. Not only in math, but life lessons.  I really appreciate all that you have done for me.  I recognize all of the hard work you put into your students!  I feel so fortunate to have had you as not only a teach but as a friend.  We have built a relationship that extends beyond the classroom.  Thank you for always having a listening ear and helping me grow and understand both myself and the world around me.  You truly have a heart of gold.  I hope we will keep in touch and continue to grow and strengthen our relationship!

Thank you again for all the hard work, love and support! You are the best!

Love always,

Hi Rabbi/Sherrie,

I have meant to send this email for quite some time and have been remiss in not doing so. As I’m sure that you are both well aware, parents are usually far more vocal in their criticism regarding their children’s teachers than they are in their praise. And yet, when one’s child has a teacher of the caliber of Jodi Zevon, it would be a disservice to not offer that (tremendously well-deserved) praise. As you know, Sherrie, since being placed in Geometry in 9th Grade, Sammy has really struggled in his Math classes throughout his years at YULA. And, as you also are aware, it’s difficult to get off that advanced Math track and, as such, he’s had to continue taking the more accelerated classes. While he has continued to struggle in this year’s Math class, I have been truly overwhelmed by Jodi’s drive and desire to help him succeed. Her teaching skills are superlative but I have been equally impressed with her empathy and compassion, flexibility and warmth. I simply can not say enough with regard to the level of my gratitude. This is the kind of teacher that truly wants her students to succeed and does everything in her power to facilitate that. What an absolute gem and how fortunate we are to have her at YULA!

Best regards,

Cheryl Azair
